Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The long-drawn-out legal battle of the Aurangabad District Cricket Association (ADCA) has finally concluded, and the newly appointed President and his newly elected executive committee are being welcomed within cricketing circles. Kiran Joshi (71), a senior life member of the association since 1973, has put forward crucial suggestions and demands for the upcoming 'Vision Document' of the new President, Atul Save, and his team, as well as for the revitalization of district cricket.
10 Key Recommendations for Cricket Development
Organizing Modern Academies and Tournaments
A full-time 'coaching academy' should be established by the ADCA for boys in the 10–19 age group. Additionally, regular league matches and inter-school, inter-collegiate, and industrial cricket tournaments should be restarted for the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-19 age categories.
Transparent Selection Process and Infrastructure
There should be a completely impartial and merit-based selection committee for choosing the Aurangabad district team that participates in state-level competitions. Furthermore, the ground acquired for cricket development should be utilized solely to encourage budding players.
Constitutional Amendments and Honoring Life Members
Photographs of the late Subhash Lolge, J.U. Mitkar, and Gajanan Dhande-who were instrumental in securing the association's office-should be displayed in the office. The association's constitution is very old (dating back to 1973), and amending it immediately should be the first duty of the new committee. Additionally, association membership should be granted to players who have represented the state and the country.
Need for Communication
The executive committee should hold meetings with life members to seek regular feedback before making any major decisions. Life members should not be remembered only after 18 years; instead, they should be frequently involved in the process.
"One should always prioritize cricket over self-interest. Under the leadership of the newly appointed President, Aurangabad cricket will certainly regain its former glory," said Kiran Joshi, expressing confidence and extending his best wishes to the newly elected board for a successful journey ahead.
